NovaBone Putty®
A fully synthetic bioactive bone graft substitute with antibacterial and antimicrobial properties produced by the US-company NovaBone Products.
Who is it for?
The implant is intended for patients who suffer not only from spinal bone defects of a larger extent. It is used, for instance, for filling cages, in the correction of the limb axis or to fill cavities caused by fracture, dislocation or benign bone tumours.
Why NovaBone Putty®?
The implant is a unique, non-collapsible bone substitute designed for easy and convenient application during treatment. It is based on calcium phosphosilicate (CPS) – a bioactive glass made of a mixture of silicon dioxide, calcium, phosphorus and sodium, which is completely resorbed and replaced by newly formed bone over the course of 4-5 months, depending on the size of the defect. The material has proven osteostimulating and osteoconductive properties that naturally support bone tissue regeneration – it is specifically designed to osteoprogenitor cells and precursor cells which then turn into osteoblasts and further contributing to the acceleration of the entire healing process. In terms of bone growth, NovaBone Putty® shows similar values to autogenous bone graft and significantly higher figures compared to conventional calcium phosphate ceramics.
NovaBone Putty® bone graft substitute is ready for immediate application right out of the packaging without the need for mixing and thanks to its high malleability it easily fills any shape of bone defect. In addition, it does not migrate or dissolve on contact with water, allowing for trouble-free irrigation of the surgical site.
