KONG®-TL VBR + screws
KONG®-TL VBR
The vertebral body replacement implant for the thoracolumbar spine produced by Swiss company icotec.
Who is it for?
The primary function of the KONG®-TL VBR system is to help patients suffering from damage, collapse or instability of the vertebral body in the T1-L5 segments due to tumour or trauma. The implant can be used to replace or fix one or more segments at the same time. It is intended to be used with supplemental spinal fixation system for the thoracic or lumbar spine e.g. icotec pedicle screw and rod systems.
Why KONG®-TL VBR?
KONG®-TL VBR is a modular system with a rough osseoconductive surface that, thanks to its high variability, easily accommodates the unique anatomical needs of each patient. The convex profile and large contact area of the endplates reduce the risk of implant migration, while the profile of the spikes and teeth ensures excellent primary stability. The entire system is available in a wide range of sizes and shapes, allowing operators an easy insertion at different angles, easy in-situ expansion and a range of different approaches.
The implant is made completely of non-metallic BlackArmor® Carbon/PEEK material, carbon-fiber-reinforced polyetheretherketone with unique architecture. The material has excellent imaging properties in all diagnostic settings, such as X-ray, CT or MRI, furthermore the embedded tantalum markers ensure excellent visibility of the implant during intraoperative and postoperative diagnostics.
icotec Pedicle System
The pedicle system by Swiss company icotec provides stabilization and immobilization of spinal segments as an adjunct to vertebral fusion.
Who is it for?
The implant system is suitable for patients suffering from acute and chronic instabilities or deformities of the thoracic, lumbar, and sacral spine, in particular degenerative disc disease, spondylolisthesis, fracture, dislocation, scoliosis, kyphosis, tumor or as a correction of unsuccessful previous fusion. Augmentable screws can also be used in combination with bone cement to provide temporary internal support and fixation, for example in cases of osteoporosis, osteopenia, or metastatic dis-ease. All system components can be combined intraoperatively with other corresponding implants.
Why Pedicle System?
The system consists of several types of polyaxial pedicle screws and rods. These include VADER® pedicle screws, LightMore®, icotec Carbon/PEEK and icotec titanium pedicle screws. With the exception of the latter, screws and rods are made of non-metallic BlackArmor® Carbon/PEEK material, carbon-fiber-reinforced polyetheretherketone with unique architecture. The material has excellent imaging properties in all diagnostic settings, such as X-ray, CT or MRI, and the embedded tantalum markers ensure excellent visibility of the implant during intraoperative and postoperative diagnostics.
Pedicle screws are available in a range of lengths and diameters to meet all patient anatomical needs.
