KONG®-C VBR M + plate
KONG®-C VBR M
The implant funtions as a replacement of cervical vertebral body produced by the Swiss company icotec.
Who is it for?
KONG®-C VBR M is suitable for patients who have suffered severe damage to the vertebrae of the cervical spine as a result of a tumour or fracture with inevitable surgical removal. It enables restoration of vertebral body height in segments C3-C7 and decompression of the spinal cord and nervous tissues. It is designed for use with other cervical spine fixation systems such as the icotec Anterior Cervical Plate.
Why KONG®-C VBR M?
Modular system KONG®-C VBR M is a combination of two end plates and body made of the BlackArmor® Carbon/PEEK material, carbon-fiber-reinforced polyetheretherketone with unique architecture. Additionally it produces minimal shadows and artefacts in X-ray, CT or MRI imaging and is highly visible in post-operative diagnostics. Quality visibility of the implant itself is ensured by integrated tantalum markers.
The surface of the endplates adjacent to the bone is coated with pure biocompatible titanium with excellent osteoconductive properties. Their profiled surface both reduces the risk of implant migration and contributes to a more optimal pressure distribution than conventional tapered anchoring elements. The system components come in a variety of sizes, including lordotic angles, allowing the operator to customize the implant to each patient’s individual anatomy.
icotec Anterior Cervical Plate
The plate system inteded for anterior cervical fixation of one or more vertebrae produced by Swiss company icotec.
Who is it for?
The implant is suitable for patients suffering from fracture, dislocation, deformities or distortion of the vertebrae of cervical spine, degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, tumor, pseudoarthrosis or those who have undergone a previous unsuccessful fusion. All components of the system can be combined intraoperatively with other corresponding implants, such as the KONG®-C VBR M system by icotec.
Why icotec Anterior Cervical Plate?
One of the latest additions to the icotec family of spinal implants, consists of a combination of plates and screws, enabling complete restoration of the integrity of the cervical spine.
The plates are composed of advanced non-metallic BlackArmor® Carbon/PEEK material, a carbon-fiber-reinforced polyetheretherketone which provides unmatched strength and durability of the whole system. In addition, it produces minimal shadows and artefacts in X-ray, CT or MRI imaging and is highly visible in post-operative diagnostics thanks to the tantalum markers.
The end plates can be supplied in different sizes depending on the number of segments to be treated, with the screws oriented so that in any given stage the two screws have a ten-degree convergence. The whole implant has high biocompatibility and opens up significant new possibilities in the treatment of cervical spine tumours thanks to its combination of mechanical strength and non-metallic properties.
